For more than 30 years, Emi Altobelli has been a dedicated educator. She has a background in sports coaching and the fitness industry.
She is presently offering Bowen Therapy at various fitness gyms in the GTA. Helping professional athletes such as as powerlifters, bodybuilders and Muay Thai fighters reach their fitness goals for competitions.
When she is not in the gym helping athletes, she is at her Mississauga location supporting adults, seniors, children and newborns with mind-body integration and balance in the body according to their own body’s need and ability to heal.
Her approach to helping her clients is in restoring functional symmetry. Often times, during assessment the client presents with ‘functional asymmetry’ one leg appears ‘functionally shorter’. By restoring symmetry in the body, we restore function of the central nervous system and body function.
Emi is a Certified Bowen Practitioner and Personal Trainer. She is licensed by Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia and is a member of the Canadian Bowenwork/Bowtech Group representing internationally recognized Bowtech, the Original Bowen Technique.
Emilia uses Bowenwork - a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy - to address a wide range of health problems and injuries.

The simpler and more recent the problem, the less sessions you will require.
The longer one has had a particular compensation pattern, the more likely it is that that pattern has led to other imbalances.
In most cases, it is usually impossible to clear the entirety of one’s issue in one visit. it can overwhelm the system and result in additional trauma. It is also not unusual for new or different symptoms to arise soon after a session. This is a result of deeper layers of imbalance coming to the forefront. This is normal.
I recommend clients commit themselves to at least five visits initially. By the end of five sessions, you’ll either be better, or well on your way to getting better. If there is no change after five sessions, I will refer you out.

It depends on what led to your issue in the first place.
If it is of acute origin, that is, it was caused by an isolated incident or by a stress (either physical or psychological) that is no longer a factor, then results should last indefinitely.
However, if your issue is due to a repetitive stress such as sitting in front of a computer all day, maintaining results will require diligent effort on the part of the client. Results are generally permanent.

I don’t accept insurance directly, though I will happily provide you with a detailed invoice in the for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
My work is generally accepted by health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts.

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time, or simply fail to show up to your appointment, that session must be paid for in full.
Your credit card on file will be charged.

I recommend loose fitting and comfortable. Avoid layers and NO DENIM PLEASE! Shorts and a T-shirt, or similar, are usually best. It’s also a good idea to avoid lotions or any other products that would make the skin slippery.

Bowen is a simple, yet very powerful technique. Your job, post-treatment, is to not get in the way of the healing process. As such, here are several recommendations both for the day of treatment and for the days between treatments.
They are as follows:
The Day Of Treatment
As soon as you can after the session, take a 15-20 minute walk. This will help your nervous system integrate the work.
Drink plenty of water. A good deal of metabolic waste previously residing in stagnant tissues will suddenly be released into your system. Water can help dilute these wastes and keep you feeling your best.
Relax. Don’t do any heavy lifting or strenuous exercise. Doing so can halt the processing that occurs after sessions, thus limiting the benefits. If you received jaw work, avoid hard or difficult-to-chew foods.
Avoid extreme heat or cold. No heating pads, ice packs, hot showers or hot baths. The circulatory fluctuations can hinder the work.
Keep your feet together. Try to put your weight on both feet together when you stand up, get out of bed, get out of a car, etc. This can help to begin restoring balance to your body, particularly in your pelvis.
Avoid sitting for more than 30 minutes at a time without at least getting up periodically. This can destabilize the pelvis during the crucial setting-in period of the work.
The Week After Treatment
Continue to walk - 15-20 minutes per day is best.
Continue to take it easy. Avoid overly-strenuous activities. Light exercise is fine.
Avoid any treatments, including Bowen, for a full week after your previous treatment. Bowen is a delicate process and can be easily impeded by other treatments done later, including chiropractic, massages, acupuncture/acupressure, etc. Even a back-rub can be a no-no.
Continue to avoid extreme hot or cold.

Next, our sessions will focus on assessments to uncover areas of muscular and nervous system dysfunction.
